Environmental Chemistry Option

Students in this option explore the cycling and transformations of natural and contaminant substances within and among aquatic, atmospheric, and terrestrial reservoirs and how such processes are controlled or modified by physical and biological processes and structures. Emphasis is on the application of field and laboratory experimentation as well as predictive modeling to problems of environmental contamination and material cycling on earth.

Core Required Courses (12 Credits) All students must complete the Environmental Sciences core.

Option Required Courses (6 credits)* All students must complete the following courses:

Option Elective Courses. All M.S. students must complete at least 8 credits and Ph.D. students 11 credits from the following list.** Other courses may be substituted with advisor and option coordinator approval.
