DISSEMINATION OF ANTIBIOTIC RESISTANCE IN RECLAIMED WASTEWATER AND AGRICULTURAL SYSTEMS
The spread of antibiotic resistance is a growing public health concern as the proliferation of antibiotic resistance is outpacing the development of novel antibiotics. Increasing evidence indicates an association between environmental sources of antibiotic resistance and antibiotic resistant infections. The spread of antibiotic resistance will be discussed in two environmental systems: (1) reclaimed wastewater and (2) agricultural fields treated with manure.
