Sustainable Productive Chains in the Amazon: A View from the ground


I will address the context of exploitation of natural resources by traditional peoples in the Amazon and production initiatives based on participatory systems. I will also discuss the challenges of implementing and maintaining sustainable production chains in the social, political and economic contexts. Presenting cases involving organic agriculture in the metropolitan region of Manaus and extractive production processes (oils, Brazilian nuts and pirarucu fish) carried out by riverside and indigenous communities in the state of Amazonas.
