Voces de la Comunidad: Bridging Climate Scholarship and Community Voices
This seminar explores Voces de la Comunidad, a transdisciplinary project that connects climate research with community engagement in Camden, New Jersey. Grounded in the environmental humanities, the initiative seeks to make complex scientific data accessible to the city’s predominantly Latinx, Spanish-speaking population. Through bilingual storytelling and zine-making, Voces translates climate scholarship into meaningful local action. In collaboration with Rutgers faculty, students, and community partners, the project fosters dialogue, amplifies local voices, and reimagines how the humanities can advance environmental justice and resilience.
