The overall educational goal of the Graduate Program in Bioenvironmental Engineering is to provide students with advanced training in the integration of engineering and the natural sciences with the goal of developing solutions to environmental and societal challenges.
Students who earn a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Bioenvironmental Engineering will:
- Have developed a broad, interdisciplinary understanding of complex environmental engineering processes, challenges, and design solutions under the principles of sustainability;
- Have developed advanced state-of-the-art technical competence in environmental engineering;
- Have conducted original research within a chosen sub-field of environmental engineering (thesis option);
- Have developed the ability to effectively communicate scientific data, concepts, and challenges orally, in writing, and through the production of clear and compelling graphics (figures, tables, and schematics).
- Be prepared to apply project management to a project;
- Be prepared to participate in engineering and professional associations and other activities within the scientific community and/or society at large; and
- Understand and uphold engineering and professional ethics in all of their career activities.
