Monitoring and modeling terrestrial vegetation activities: An optimality view

Terrestrial vegetation controls the exchange of carbon, water, and energy between the land and the atmosphere, while also offering essential ecosystem services such as food, fiber, fuel, and more. Changes in vegetation structure and function could be driven by climatic and environmental changes, and by human activities. In this presentation, I will share my research on monitoring global vegetation change using satellite data and models.

Specifically, I will talk about the impacts of land-use management, increasing atmospheric CO2 levels, and the interactions with climate on vegetation dynamics.
